Bean Bandit
H60cm W30cm D30cm
Early designs of coffee percolators were created between 1810 and 1814 by Benjamin Thompson. During the early 20th Century percolators gained popularity among coffee drinkers, but their use declined in the 1970s with the rise of automatic coffee makers.
This work has taken inspiration from the early designs of the Pyrex percolators but with aa twist, this percolator has come alive...It no longer wants to percolate coffee but has found fun in being mischievous
and causing trouble. Glass blown with metal bolts trapped whilst the material is
molten, the percolator has evolved its form and grown into a rogue and cheeky
character. In his path of destruction and chaos, the percolator carries with him a
handful of coffee beans which he snacks on during his adventures, after all…he is
still a coffee machine.
